The Great Sphinx and the Younger Dryas

The Great Sphinx, located on the Giza Plateau in Egypt, is a wondrous and enigmatic sculpture. Officially, it was constructed for the pharaoh Khafre in around 2500 BC, at the same time as the middle of the Giza pyramids, but there is very little evidence to support this theory. An alternative theory, developed by Dr Robert Schoch, is that the Great Sphinx was built much further back in time. He bases this theory on the way the stone around the Sphinx’s enclosure has been weathered. According to his analysis and those of consultants, the weathering of the stone has clearly been done by a lot of water falling on the stone, or lapping up against it, or both. If this is correct, then the Sphinx must have been constructed at least eight-thousand years ago, when Egypt was a wet and temperate area, before Earth’s changing climate turned it to desert.

Here is a very-well-produced documentary by the Gaia YouTube channel, describing Schoch’s theory:

After explaining Schoch’s theory, the programme-makers then put forward the idea that the Great Sphinx was originally a lion, and that the human was created later, carved out of the existing animal’s head. This seems a very reasonable idea; the current human head is clearly out of proportion to the rest of the sculpture and looks to have been a later modification.

The programme makers then point out that the sculpture is aligned to point directly at the constellation of Leo at the Spring Equinox in the zodiacal Age of Leo, around twelve-and-a-half thousand years ago. Unfortunately, the programme does then drift into some speculation, with talk of portals and channelled messages from aliens etc. All of this is possible but there is no solid evidence to back it up, and so it is of no use when creating a scientific theory.

Fortunately, other scientific evidence from our past, when combined with Schoch’s theory, can create a new theory of the Sphinx’s purpose. As with the other theories on my website, such as the Great Pyramid and 2787 BC, the Sirius Red Controversy, the Greek Myths and the Ark of the Covenant, I’m going to combine solid scientific evidence and logic to create a possible solution to the mystery of the Sphinx. Here goes…

To start with, why did someone build the Great Sphinx? I think it's reasonable to first accept that the Great Sphinx was originally a lion, as its body is clearly that of a lion and it seems likely that its head has been modified. The question therefore becomes ‘Why would someone build a Great Lion?’

As the documentary above explains, the Great Sphinx seems to have been built to mark the beginning of the Age of Leo. Celestial precession allows us to mark this date accurately. The twelve signs of the zodiac rotate around the Earth every 25,800 years as part of our planet’s celestial precession; the slow rotation of its axis of rotation, often referred to as the Platonic Great Year. 25,800 years divided by 12 gives each zodiacal age to be 2,150 years long. As the musical ‘Hair’ famously pointed out, we’re at the dawning of the Age of Aquarius, which we can mark as 2010 AD (close enough for our purposes). This means that the dawning of the Age of Leo, six eras earlier than Aquarius, occurred 2010 - 6 x 2150 years ago, which is 10,890 BC, or exactly half-way back through the Great Year. If the people who built the Sphinx used the same zodiacal signs as we do now, they would therefore seem to be marking that date with their huge lion.

The idea that a civilisation that far back was using the zodiac isn’t that crazy an idea. We can see from the Dendera Zodiac and its strong links to Babylonian Star-Signs and Sumerian records that the zodiac has been in existence from at least the very beginning of recorded civilisationon Earth. It also seemed to have appeared, fully-formed, at the earliest era of recorded civilisation, indicating that it was an intact relic of an even earlier, lost civilisation.

Therefore, the Great Lion was carved to mark 10,890 BC. This doesn’t, at first, seem like an important date, just some random moment during our last ice-age, but in fact it has great significance, a fact that is not mentioned in the Gaia documentary. 10,890 BC is the exact moment in history when the Younger Dryas Impact Event occurred. This was the moment when our planet was bombarded with a shower of meteorites that seemed to have devastated large parts of our globe. Several theories have been put forward to explain why that event occurred. I think the most convincing theory comes from Dr Paul LaViolette, who explains in his book ‘Earth Under Fire’ that the centre of our galaxy periodically produces a vast ejection of matter and energy, a fundamental physics process explained in his book ‘sub-quantum kinetics’. This wave of matter and energy hit our solar system, causing meteorites and interstellar dust to crash into Earth. Eventually, the wave passes, our sun pushes out the dust and our planet recovers, but any civilisations on its surface are understandably decimated. I personally believe that the Book of Revelations is actually a chronicle of that event, something that LaViolette agrees with.

The ancient civilisation who built the Great Lion may have worked out the same idea as LaViolette, that there is a cyclic galactic energy-wave process, the result of a continual creation of new matter and energy in our universe. They may then have realised that our Earth is catastrophically bombarded at the beginning of every Age of Leo, since Earth's precessional Great Year is synchronised with such galactic tsunami because its precessional movement has been entrained by the gravity wave that is emitted during each event, as described in LaViolette's book. In such a way, our celestial zodiac is therefore not just a time-marker, it’s a disaster marker. That ancient civilisation may therefore have known, ahead of time, that the Younger Dryas Impact Event was going to occur.

If this is correct, then the builders of the Great Lion knew they would soon face a calamity that might wipe them out. It’s therefore highly likely that they built their Great Lion not just to mark the calamitous date of 10,890 BC, but to also store records of their civilisation so that if they did die out, what they’d done wouldn’t be lost forever. The Great Lion would therefore have been created as a guardian of a time-capsule, similar to the one in Texas (shown in the picture). The logically place to store that time-capsule would be under the lion’s front paws, as all cats keep their prizes under their front paws.

It’s therefore no surprise that the Gaia documentary reports that Schoch did detect a chamber under the Sphinx’s front paws. Unfortunately, it’s clear that the powers-that-be that control access to the archaeological sites in Egypt have no interest in the general public finding out what’s in there. According to the documentary, as soon as the Egyptian Authorities found out that Schoch had detected a chamber, they threw him off the site. This is in keeping with the way the Egyptian Authorities have restricted all access to specific areas of the Great Pyramid, such as its inner-ramp and hidden-chamber, that would tell us who truly built that structure and why. They have also restricted access to tunnels under the Giza site, which would also give us an understanding of the site's builders.

If the general public did gain access to the chamber under the Sphinx’s front paws, I think we’d discover both a record of an antediluvian civilisation and a warning. The warning would tell us that when the zodiacal clock ticked another half-cycle, at the dawning of the Age of Aquarius, another burst would hit us from the centre of our galaxy. For an explanation of why I worry that such a calamity could happen next year, please check out my Kali Yuga article and my Predictions of the Future article. Fingers-crossed, it won't but as they say, fore-warned is fore-armed.
