There are many books that describe Near Death Experiences, an event when a person is clinically and physically dead, temporarily. During that time, which can last between seven minutes and hours, the person experiences a series of supernatural events. These usually consist of darkness, reaching a circle of light, entering a wonderful realm of light and love where they meet dead loved-one and relatives, interacting with a person of great love, and then returning to their body.
Dr Raymond Moody is a well-known writer on the subject of NDEs. Dr Kenneth Ring's book Heading towards Omega is also a very good source of information on this matter. I also recommend Dr Pim Van Lommel's book Consciousness Beyond Life. Van Lommel's book has been unique, in my experience, because he is a cardiac surgeon. During a six-month period, he meticulously recorded medical information about his patients. Each time one of his patients had a Near Death Experience, he was able to combine that person's experience and their medical information during the time that they were clinically dead. Van Lommel shows in his book that this combination of evidence confirms that many people who have had Near Death Experiences did not fantasise these realms because their brains were low on oxygen. In fact, for many of them, there was no oxygen being pumped to their brains at all, since their hearts had stopped many minutes earlier. If all consciousness experience comes from our functioning brains, then those people should not have experienced anything at all, three minutes or more after their hearts' stopped, and yet they did.
Proof of Heaven is another book that follows this path. The difference is that Proof of Heaven is written by a neurosurgeon who had a Near Death Experience. Dr Eben Alexander contracted a virulent bacterium which entered his brain, in a way similar to meningitis, and began destroying his cortex. This attack put him in a coma for several days. The prognosis was grim. He was likely to die and even if he survived, he would probably be in a vegetative state, as the infection had ravaged a large part of his outer brain. In fact, he recovered fully and was able to continue his work as a doctor. He also wanted to tell everyone about his experience.
Dr Alexander focusses on two things in the book; firstly that he had a spiritual experience, similar to many NDE experiences, and secondly that they could not have been created by his brain, as it was in a state of almost complete inaction, due to the bacteria's damage. The book isn't too long, but it gets its message across very well. I definitely recommend to anyone interested in the subject and also anyone who is unsure what NDE's are, but keen to learn more about the subject.
The Body Electric, by Dr Robert Becker and Gary Selden, is an excellent investigation into how electrical signals control healing and general cellular function in the body. The first two-thirds of the book documents how the author, a physician and researcher in the United States, discovered how DC signals in the body, through the Schwann cells around the nerves, are critical in cellular repair and wound healing. He shows how salamanders are able to regrow their tails and bone fractures heal themselves. Clever use of current stimulation at very low levels can have a wondrous effect on wound repair, breakages and other healing effects. He shows that proteins and other cellular components act as semi-conductors, allowing rapid but low level electron flow through the body.
The author then goes on to study how cancer growth and cancer removal are both heavily influenced by electron flow in the body. For example, he shows that when a salamander's tail is cut, its process of regrowth also heals cancerous growths in its own body, even if those cancerous growths were crafted on to it from another animal. This situation, 'cancer removal while the host is in a heightened healing state' is similar to another scenario, where a person in a high fever can actually be cured of his or her cancer. This phenomenon was discovered by the American physician William Coley, something I wrote about in an earlier blog article.
In the final few chapters of the book, Dr Becker then switches to the matter of electromagnetic pollution, from microwaves, cathode ray tubes, overhead power lines, mobile phones and other sources of radiation. During the book, Dr Becker has explained how all cellular processes on Earth, including our own bodies, are highly sensitive to magnetic fields, including our Earth's magnetic field, and all its subtle fluctuations. In the chapters of electromagnetic pollution, he puts forward a lot of evidence that the sheer mass of electromagnetic pollution we are now receiving is definitely affecting our mental states, our fertility, our cancer growths and other serious health issues. As a break from UFO articles, I thought it would be a good moment to review a book I've very much enjoyed; 'The mystery of the crystal skulls' by Chris Morton and Ceri Louise Thomas. This is a fat paperback describing the authors' journey in investigating and uncovering information about certain crystal skulls, in particular the Mitchell-Hedges skull, found in the 1920's by Anne Mitchell-Hedges and her father in a Mayan pyramid in Central America.
To be honest, I've never read much on crystal skulls, as I've viewed them as being of only minor significance amongst the many strange anomalies present on our planet. Morton and Thomas's book proved me wrong on this matter, as they've put together a great documentary story, along with a wealth of data, not only about the major crystal skulls available to study in the world but also the views of the indigenous people connected to those skulls. The story includes solid science, folk tales, psychic readings, bizarre conspiracies, secrets and predictions about our future.
The star of the book is definitely the Mitchell-Hedges quartz, rock-crystal skull. Not only is the skull the most well-known skull, the book includes a report on analysis of the skull by the Hewlett Packard laboratories. The staff there used their skills in fabricating pure quartz crystals for electronic devices to analyse the skull's construction and internal make-up. Their report makes it clear that the skull isn't just a carved piece of rock; its piezo-electric properties, prismatic properties, purity and crystal patterning clearly belong to something created by a very advanced culture. And yet, it was found in an ancient Mayan pyramid. Read More...
'Encounter in Rendlesham Forest' is a non-fiction book about the now infamous incident in a forest in East Anglia in the U.K. in 1980. The book is written by Nick Pope who, by his own admission, was an MoD employee for many years before becoming an author. The kindle version I read was published in 2014 and the book is relatively new and includes recent material and references.
For those who haven't encountered the Rendlesham Forest incident, it is probably the most significant and well-documented UFO event in UK history. It is often referred to as the 'British Roswell'. One night, just after Christmas in 1980, something landed in the Rendlesham Forest, close to the Bentwater U.S. air force base. U.S. servicemen were told to investigate the presence in the forest of strange lights. Two of them encountered a triangular craft of advanced design. The craft later took off. The next night, more activity occurred in the forest. Many servicemen investigated this event and what they found is now the subject of many books and articles. Read More...
